OUR BELIEFS

At The Mission, we’re rooted in the historic Christian faith, centered on the hope of Jesus Christ, and empowered by the work of the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Trinity—one God in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19). We believe that salvation is a gift of grace, received through faith in Jesus and His death on the Cross for our sins (Eph. 2:8–9, John 1:12). We hold a high view of Scripture, trusting the Bible as the Word of God and our foundation for truth and life (2 Tim. 3:15–16).

WHAT WE BELIEVE:

  • As a Vineyard USA church (a charismatic movement founded by John Wimber), we believe the Holy Spirit is active and essential—not the “forgotten member of the Trinity” (1 Cor. 12; Romans 8:14).
  • The Bible teaches that our Creator knew us in our mother’s womb so we are "pro-life" advocates embracing the sanctity of life (Jeremiah 1:5).
  • We believe marriage was designed by God, and as its Creator, He defines it. We hold to the traditional, biblical understanding of marriage as a covenant between one biological man and one biological woman (Genesis 1:26–27).
  • We care deeply about justice—but we define it biblically, not politically. While we support biblical social justice, we do not align with "progressive" Christianity (Matthew 25:31–46).
  • We believe women can be called to leadership within the church. Women can serve in key roles, including preaching and teaching, both in and outside of Sunday gatherings (Judges 4–5, Acts 18:24–26, Romans 16:1–7).
  • Our pastors teach from a variety of Bible translations, including the NIV, NLT, ESV, NKJV, The Message, and Amplified.
  • Our lead pastor is a lifelong learner who draws from a wide range of voices — such as Randy Clark, Bill Johnson, Andrew Wommack, The Remnant Radio podcast, The Mike Winger podcast, Eric Metaxas, Pete Scazzero, Craig Groeschel, Lee Strobel, Dallas Willard, Sean McDowell, Dallas Jenkins (The Chosen), Greg Boyd, John Piper, John Bevere, and Tara-Leigh Cobble (Bible Recap). He doesn’t necessarily agree with every view they hold but likes to say, “Chew the meat and spit out the bones.
  • Our lead pastors have Catholic roots and are thankful for the foundation it gave them, even though they don’t embrace all aspects of Catholic theology. In fact, our pastor has many meaningful friendships with local Catholic priests (John 17:20–23).
  • The worship songs we sing often come from artists and ministries like Bethel Music, Hillsong, Elevation Worship, Jesus Culture, Phil Wickham, and many more.
  • While we love our country and are proud to be Americans, we ultimately live as citizens of the Kingdom of God. Our hope isn’t in politics or presidents—it’s in Jesus (Psalm 47; 1 Peter 2:9–12).
  • We do NOT believe a “fire and brimstone” approach is the best way to share our faith (Romans 2:4).
